I was reading an article this morning about the racist side of abortion. The article, title “Black faith leaders: ‘Nothing’ more racist than America’s abortion industry”, by Bridget Sielicki, helps reveal the tragic truth behind the abortion industry, showing the deep roots of racism and eugenics within the origins of Planned Parenthood. As Christians, it is distressing yet necessary to acknowledge the sorrowful reality that abortion is not only the slaughter of innocent life but also an insidious attack on vulnerable communities.
Pastor John Amanchukwu and Bishop Patrick L. Wooden Sr. courageously speak the truth in a documentary called “The 1916 Project”. They help expose abortion as a grievous sin and a racial injustice. Their call for Black faith leaders to stand up and speak out against this ongoing tragedy deeply effects the body of Christ. Not only is abortion a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual battle that strikes at the heart of our faith in the sanctity of life. It is heart-wrenching to realise that the very organisation purported to provide “healthcare” to women was founded with such evil intentions—intentions to destroy the Black race through birth control, sterilisation, and abortion. Margaret Sanger’s vision was, and still is, rooted in eugenics and racism. This truth should stir every Christian heart to action. This is a reminder of our duty as believers to protect the most defenceless among us—the unborn.
The statistics are alarming, as the article notes that Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by abortion, with 41.5% of abortions carried out on Black babies in 2021. This shocking disparity is a continuation of the racism that Sanger herself advocated for, yet it remains hidden under the guise of “choice.” As Bishop Wooden boldly declared, there is nothing more racist in America than the abortion industry.
As Christians we must take a more serious stand and reject the culture of death which is promoted by abortionists and to embrace the Gospel of life. The fight to protect the unborn is not just a political cause but a divine mission entrusted to us by God. Let us pray for more pastors and faith leaders to rise up, denounce the evil of abortion, and work tirelessly to restore a culture that cherishes every human life, from conception to natural death.
