“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us love, compassion, and humility – three qualities that should reign in every Christian’s heart. Our Lord challenges us to consider what it truly means to be His disciple and to live a life that reflects the character of God. One of the most significant teachings in His sermon is the blessing bestowed upon the peacemakers: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
The word “peacemaker” is more than a title alone; it’s a call to action. It is about actively seeking reconciliation, building bridges, and fostering harmony in our relationships. Peace-making is not about avoiding conflict altogether, but about facing it with courage, wisdom, and a genuine desire to understand and resolve differences. When we become peacemakers, we are not only reflecting the character of our heavenly Father, but we are also bringing our lives in accordance with His commandments and Kingdom reign. Yahweh is a God of peace, and His desire is for all people to live in harmony.
Being a peacemaker is not always easy. It requires humility, patience, and a willingness to forgive others. However, the rewards are immeasurable. When we make peace, we not only bring healing to ourselves and others, but we also become true children of God, reflecting His image and giving Him glory.
