“Your loving kindness, Yahweh, is in the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God.
Your judgments are like a great deep.
Yahweh, you preserve man and animal.”
(Psalm 36:5-7)
As you read, allow the words to sink into your heart. Notice any words or phrases that particularly stand out to you. Perhaps “loving kindness,” “faithfulness,” “righteousness,” or “judgments” draw your attention. Rest in these words and allow them to resonate within you.
Reflect deeply on the words or phrases that stood out to you. Consider their significance in your life and your understanding of God.
- Reflect on the vastness of God’s love. His loving kindness is boundless, reaching beyond the earth into the heavens. How have you experienced this unfathomable love in your life? In what ways does this truth bring you comfort or assurance today?
- Meditate on God’s unwavering faithfulness. Just as the skies are ever-present, so too is God’s faithfulness in your life. Consider moments where you have seen His faithfulness at work. How does this truth strengthen your trust in Him?
- Ponder the steadfastness and grandeur of God’s righteousness. Like towering mountains that cannot be moved, God’s righteousness is firm and unshakeable. How does this image impact your view of God’s justice and holiness?
- Reflect on the depth and wisdom of God’s judgments. They are beyond human understanding, vast and mysterious like the ocean’s depths. How does this shape your response to God’s decisions and plans for your life?
- Consider God’s care and preservation of all creation. He is not only a just judge but also a loving caretaker of both humanity and the natural world. How do you see God’s preserving hand in your life and the world around you?
Move into a time of silent rest in God’s presence. Set aside all words and thoughts, simply being with God. Let the truths of this passage dwell within you, allowing the Holy Spirit to deepen your connection with the Lord.
As you rest in His presence, let His loving kindness, faithfulness, righteousness, and wisdom fill your soul. Trust that in this quiet communion, God is at work, shaping you and drawing you closer to Himself.
When you are ready, you may conclude your time of meditation with a prayer of thanksgiving or simply remain in the stillness, cherishing the nearness of God.
Prayer
“Lord, Your loving kindness is beyond comprehension, reaching into the heavens. I am humbled by Your faithfulness, which surrounds me daily, as vast as the skies. Your righteousness, firm and unmovable like the mountains, reminds me of Your holy and just nature. And Your judgments, deep and profound, teach me to trust in Your wisdom even when I do not understand. Thank You for preserving me, for caring for all of creation with such tenderness. Help me to rest in Your love, trust in Your faithfulness, and walk in Your righteousness. In Jesus name, amen.”
